Update: I’ve added some new hip-hop playlists! Check them out!
Want some poses for these playlists? I recently published an ebook on Amazon! Get flowing!
I’ve seen hip-hop yoga studios, hip-hop classes, Namasdrake, Yoncé Yoga, etc. And you know what? I love it. Sure, if you’re going to a yoga class to clear your mind and you want peace and quiet, by all means, hip hop yoga doesn’t sound appealing. But if a little Drake puts you in a good mood and keeps you in your Warrior 2 a little longer, go for it.
Since I’ve been traveling, I’ve been primarily practicing on my own, so I put on a little Childish Gambino or Post Malone to jam out to. Sue me. I also have a Shakey Graves yoga playlist for anyone who wants it.
Teachers, feel free to use these playlists in your classes. But be warned…I did not use the clean versions of any of these songs.
Yoga Booty feat. Drake and Beyoncé
Squeeze in some yoga on your Friday night before you go out. You’ll look good and feel great.
Frank Ocean Flow – for more restorative classes
Not all yoga flows have to be physically exhausting, even with a hip-hop playlist in the background. Put on some Frank and do some restorative poses. Take a nap if you want.
A Little Mix of Everything – feat. Childish Gambino, Chance the Rapper, and Stormzy
Okay, so I’m having a wee grime phase, so Stormzy has snuck his way into this one. There is quite a lot of explicit language, but it’s a little bit of everything for you.
Beastie Boys Flow
Let’s take it old school, shall we? I love the Beastie Boys, and this is mostly stuff from The Mix-Up, and this playlist gave me the idea to share this post with all of you, so, a big thank you to MCA, Mike D, and Ad-Rock.
